In my essay, I explore how feminist theory is translated into curatorial practice at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, focusing on the gallery “Authorship and Feminist Art Critiques” within the exhibition Tomorrow is a Different Day. Collection 1980–Now. Through works by Cosima von Bonin, Marlene Dumas, Louise Lawler, and a photograph of Guerrilla Girls’ supporters, presented along side the work by Jeff Koons, I ask: Can museums truly avoid the trap of “catch-up” inclusivity? Does revising and dismantling the canon risk re-centering it all over again?

Drawing on feminist literature related to curatorial activism, I critically examine the museum’s evolving narrative, analyzing both past and present strategies. Writing this piece pushed me to reflect on the paradoxes of institutional critique and the complexities of feminist curating today, raising essential questions about how museums can sustain inclusive practices without reinforcing traditional power structures they aim to challenge.
